TRAINING

We adhere to and promote the Americans Disabilities Act (ADA) Standards and the International Building Code. It typically takes 2 1/2 to 3 years to properly train a service dog. It all depends on what type of services and tasks the individual dog is being trained to do in order to support the needs of their human companion.

1.

Program:

We have developed a unique training  program whereby, in many cases, puppies move in to their humans home to begin the bonding process immediately. A trainer works with the family daily to begin the first level of training. It typically takes 2 1/2 to 3 years to properly train a service dog.  However, building an immediate emotional bond provides an unshakable foundation for not only the process but for the entire future of service.

2.

Process:

Applicants will be contacted for an interview where a decision will be made about companion compatibility, funding resources and the timeline moving forward.

3.

Persistence:

SPSD is dedicated to the service dogs in training as well as the individual served. The process is all about education, discipline and patience for everyone involved. We will be here every step of the way.

4.

Promise:

We promise to stand by anyone in need of support during the training process. Communication is paramount and no one is left behind.
